Late Con Report: Unplugged Expo

I would say that there are two main conventions that happens here in Toronto; Anime North and Fan Expo. I've been to Anime North for years now since high school, and to me, it has been the best anime convention in Toronto so far.
After the Anime North fun ended, I've heard from one of the Cafe Delish maids that there will be a maid cafe at another convention called Unplugged Expo.
I've never been to a maid cafe before, and since it was near my house, I decided to go last minute! :)
+ I was also able to persuade my boyfriend to go with me because it's a much smaller con, and will 'scare' him less ;P

Unplugged Expo 2015 (http://unpluggedexpo.com/) happened during the July 31st-Aug 2nd weekend at the International Centre in Mississauga!

I only went on Saturday, as that was when the maid cafe was taking place.
Cost was about $35, which I thought was alright, maybe a little pricey for what they had to offer, but understandable as it's a pretty small con with not as many people as AN.

When I stepped into the convention, I was a bit startled by how small the convention space was.
The entire con was about the size of Nominoichi at AN, with about 2 separate rooms for panel events.
The main floor was divided into 5 sections: game section, main stage, maid cafe, vendors, and food area.

Game Section:
I LOVED IT
Game section was a lot like the setup at Atomic Lollipop but with more games!
I learnt/played games that I've always wanted to, and beat my bf's ass in every one of them ;)
And the pros of a small con, the line ups for these games were almost non-existent!
If my bf didn't drag me out, I would have been there the entire time :3

Main Stage:
Again, was a bit smaller than I expected, tucked away in a corner, but good enough for the size of the con I think.

Here's my Saturday wristband for the convention!

The main attraction of the convention were the Frost Sisters: Anna Faith and Lexie Grace. It was amazing how on point both of them looked for their characters. And they were super sweet with the kids in the audience too >____<
I was a bit disappointed though, that they weren't singing at all and was lip-syncing in their performances.

The main attraction that I visited the convention for was of course, the maid cafe!
It arranged by a group of cosplayers, with 4 maids and 4 butlers!
My bf and I chose Kitsurie as our maid but they all took turns walking around and serving the customers.

You could also play the games they had on the menu and win prizes such as kabe-don <3

Cake with decoration by Kitsurie~

We won one game, so they had to do the pocky game in front of us.
It was....a....very......otaku...ish...moment for me....where I actually enjoyed it and forgot my awkwardness >_____<

I actually like this photo much more because Yume(left) and Kitsuri(right) looks so cute here XD

In conclusion, the con was fun and I'm glad I went!
I was at first disappointed at how small it was, but it has it's pro's (no lineup for gaming!).
However, the schedule and the location of the panel rooms were confusing, and I missed almost all the panels I wanted to visit ;______;
I probably won't go next year, and maybe save up for another con like Fan Expo or Frost con!

+ After con photos >_____<

Yes, I'm really into chockers, but didn't have the confidence to wear it until it became popular in mainstream culture this year >____<

Bf too busy on his PS Vita to play with me -3-
Then he tells me he's not into the whole otaku culture -3-

Hope this was helpful in scouting out your next convention!
Bye Bye! :)
