Saline Mask / 식염수 팩

While surfing on Korean beauty blogs and YouTube videos, I recently came across something called a "Saline Mark". It may still be a new concept in the western part of the world, but it has recently gained  a lot of attention in Korean as a cheap and effective way of improving your skin tone, blemishes, and hydrating it.

In Korea, a bottle of saline bottle goes for 1500 won, roughly $1.50. That is SUPER CHEAP compared to the prices here in Canada, where I found one for $12. 

When buying a saline solution as a face mask, make sure to buy one with NO PRESERVATIVES. Only ingredients should be sodium chloride and water. These are NOT the saline solutions for contact lenses, they are sold as usually nose rinses or wound wash.

Also, if you bought it in a bottle, make sure to use it within 1-2 weeks of opening and throw out the rest. It will just harbour bacteria in the bottle and cause more damage to your skin if you use an old saline solution.

Just recently, I've been having trouble dealing with my skin, with all these big AND small acne spots popping up everyday. Not only that, because the weather's gotten a bit colder, my skin became really dry, but oddly becomes very oily quickly.

I've never really had this much problem with my skin, so I was really hoping that this saline mask could fix everything.

요즘에 한국에선 식염수팩이 유행이라고 들었어요.

한국에서는 1500원 정도 밖에 안하는 식염수로 피부 톤 개선, 홍조 개선, 그리고 보습 기능까지 가능해서 인기가 많다고 하더라구요.

한국에서는 1500원이면 큰 통 하나 사던데요...제가 사는 캐나다에서는 무려 12불, 한국돈으로는 약 만 2천원이나 하더라구요 ㅠㅠ

그것도 방부제가 들지 않은 거는 스프레이 종류밖에 없구, 찾기도 어려웠어요 ㅠㅠ

식염수로 팩을 하실 때에는 !꼭! 방부제가 들지 않은 것으로 해주세요!

개봉후에는 1-2주 안에 써주시고요, 남은건 가차 없이 버려주세요.

오래된거 쓰면 피부에 그냥 세균 덕지덕지 바르는 거에요 >___>

마침 요즘에 이상하게 계속 피부에 트러블이 생겨서 스킨케어 방법 찾아보다가 알게되었어요 

환절기라서 그런건지...최근에 화장품을 좀 바꿨어서 그런건지...

피부가 탁해지고, 여기저기 온갖 여드름이 나고, 피부 자체는 가뭄온듯 건조한데 피지분비는 또 엄청나고...

이렇게 피부가 안좋았던 적이 없던지라...어떻게 할지 모르겠더라구요 ;____;

식염수팩에 아주 큰 희망을 걸어봤어요 

BEFORE - 전

Prepare a clean skin prior to using the mask.

I've washed it clean, using a gentle cleanser, and dabbed some toner on.

As you can see, I have a lot of blemishes and small pimples all over my face.

My skin is also dull and dry around my cheek and mouth areas.

팩을 하기전에 얼굴을 깨끗이 씻어주세요.

전 부드러운 클렌져를 사용한다음에 토너로 정돈해줬어요.

보다시피 여기저기 흉터에, 여드름 자국에 보기 흉한 상태에요 ;___;

전체 피부 톤도 칙칙하고 볼이랑 입주변이 건조해요.

MASK - 마스크

I couldn't find any face sheets for masks like they have in Korea, so I had to make due with these huge cotton pads I found at the dollar store. I sprayed the cotton pads to fully soak them and just laid them out on my face. You should leave them on for about 10-15 minutes and take them off to pat dry the solution into your skin.

I found it to have a cool down effect on my skin, I felt instantly refreshed. No tingling feelings or discomfort whatsoever as well. And you really shouldn't, because it's only salt water with low salt concentration ><

한국에서 본것같은 얼굴 시트를 여기선 찾을 수 없어서 그냥 근처 달러스토어에서 큰 화장솜으로 했어요. 화장솜을 충분히 식염수로 적셔주고요, 얼굴에 잘 펴 올리면 끝이랍니다~

그러고선 한 10-15분 후 떼어주고서, 잘 두드려 피부에 스며들게 하면 되요.

피부에 올리자마자, 차가워서 쿨링하는 느낌이 좋았어요. 그냥 농도가 낮은 소금물이기 때문에 가려움 같은 문제도 없었어요.

AFTER - 후

I didn't see a huge difference after the mask. My skin tone did seem better, and hydrated, but it was expected since I'm supplying it with water. But these effects soon fade after an hour or so.

I've used it for about a week and a half, and I still couldn't see any effect from it.

It definitely helps to hydrate and prep my skin though, so it would be best used before applying makeup.

But because it's so expensive and hard to get it here, it's better to get other face masks in stores in terms of money and the effect on your skin. >____<

다른 후기들처럼 큰 변화는 없었어요. 그저 피부가 조금 환해진것 같은 느낌? 보습효과?

가뭄난 피부에 물을 보충해줬으니 예상한 효과이긴 하죠.

환해진것 같은 느낌은 샤워한 후의 얼굴처럼, 조금 지나면 없어져요.

한 일주일 반동안 거의 매일, 한 통 다 써봤는데요, 아무런 변화도 못봤어요.

그냥 화장이 잘 안먹는날에 하면 딱 좋을꺼 같아요.

한국에서는 싸지만, 여기서는 가격이 쎄기 때문에 그냥 시중에 파는 마스크 팩들 사는게 가격대비, 성능대비, 더 좋을꺼 같아요 >___<
