Yoga with Adriene is actually pretty new to me and I had no idea that she's a super popular Youtuber before searching her up for this post!
To complement my regular exercises (trying to lose some weight hereπ£) and pole dancing (super newbie with no strength nor flexibility) I started looking up yoga videos on Youtube and couldn't get enough of her videos!
I have taken in-class yoga before and Yoga with Adriene was as good, or even better, as you can play and stop whenever and wherever you need and get to see her super zen dog Benji as well! (Benji is a superdog who has mastered the definition of zen. π)
After practicing a couple of her videos, I came across the "30 Day Yoga" series where she releases 1 video a day, for 30 days, at the start of the year, during the month of January.
I think she has some sort of program going on every month, but it seems the most popular one is the one in January, for obvious reasons (*common New Year's weight-loss resolutions*).
It was already November when I found out about it, but heck, why not.
I decided to "Dedicate" my 30 days to Yoga with Adriene - 2019 version π

Here's my experience with Adriene:
Day 0
Hi Adriene!
I'm like a full year late...but I'd like to jump on the bandwagon too, please!
Day 1
Holy...almost 50 min of yoga?!
I was unsure of getting started, but hey, it's only day 1 - I should do it.
30 min in...still only doing breathing exercises...er...almost skipped through it.
Day 6
Okay...things are getting quite serious now.
Have to focus to hear all these instructions without looking AND breathe!
Day 1 breathing, yes, I did need you after all.
Day 8
Cozy, snuggly break day!
Love how she says along the lines of "this isn't a full-on workout but trust that its part of the process".
Yes, ma'am. I trust you 100%.
Day 9-17
She rotates around days with harder moves with days of rest like day 8.
Sometimes it's challenging, but most of it is beginner-friendly moves.
Day 18
I almost cried doing this, she will instruct you to say "I love you" to yourself and as cheesy as it sounds, it touched my heart.
I was very near my period, but still.
I felt it.
Adriene cares about me. π
Day 30
It's time to FREESTYLE baby.
I am petrified of freestyling at anything, probably due to my lack of self-confidence and fear of failing.
It's pretty bad that I stopped learning the bass and taking any intermediate dance classes because I just couldn't freestyle.
Although I couldn't trust myself, I trusted Adriene.
As crazy as it sounds, seeing her videos every single day for a whole month, it makes you feel close to her like she's actually my guru or a spiritual guide.
I repeated what she said throughout her videos in my mind: "trust the process", "let your breath guide you", "find what feels good", and I did it.
Full 35 minutes freestyled.
Letting my body do its thing.
It was incredible. I had no idea that I had retained all these moves just following short 20 min videos every day.
I had no idea that I could do it. But I did.
RESULTS
I know you'd like to learn how many lbs/kg I lost or how strong I got because honestly, that's all I cared about before starting.
But sorry to say...I can't give clear results because I've done a combination of daily exercising, intermittent fasting, and weekly pole classes while doing this.
As days progressed, some yoga movements became easier, like the downward dog but the real difference was in my mental state.
I've always thought meditation is a waste of time, or just too "boring" for me.
But this experience has really changed my mind.
Every exercise was like a moving meditation for me, being more aware of my body, trusting my own strength, and learning to just breathe.
Through these 30 Days of Yoga with Adriene, I was able to face my own fears and maneuver through the stress and anxious thoughts that visit me daily.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I would definitely recommend her channel and the 30 Day Yoga series to anyone, at any physical level.
Just keep at it, and in the end, you'll come to love yourself even more.
