Western vs Asian Animals

Some time ago, I came across a funny post that compared the animals of the "East" and the "West".

East meaning Asian and West meaning North American.

It was meant to be funny, so the features of each animal were grossly exaggerated.
- The conclusion of the post was that Asian animals are small and cute in comparison to the more ferocious and bigger looking Western animals.

I got curious whether there's any truth to it, so I did a quick search of my own 😜

OTTERS

(top) North American river otter
(bottom) Asian small-clawed otter

Okay, not much difference in this one, but the Asian otters have "small-clawed" in their name??
All Asian creatures are small? 😝

DUCKS

(top) North American perching duck - Wood duck
(bottom) East Asia perching duck - Mandarin duck

It's the famous mandarin duck that was spotted in New York!

RODENTS

(top) Western Rodent - Western gray squirrel
(bottom) Asian Rodent - Siberian chipmunk

I know one is a squirrel and the other is a chipmunk but from my own experience, it is super rare to see a chipmunk in Canada whereas I have NEVER seen a gray squirrel in Korea. At all.

p.s. I have had countless encounters here in Canada with ANGRY gray squirrels who were ready to prance on me and had me fleeing the scene. I am petrified of angry muscular gray squirrels 😰

BEARS

(top) Western Bear - Grizzly bear
(bottom) Asian Bear - Panda bear

Of course I had to use photos with cubs!!!
Panda bear seems quite round and chubby compared to the grizzlies.

It looks like Asian creatures (may I be bold as to say humans too?!) are generally smaller and rounder than their Western counterparts.

What do you think? Could this be the reason why Asians are more into the "cutesy" things than the Western society?

Who knows.

What I know for sure is that this family of otters are friggin adorable:
